My Monitor randomly keeps going to sleep and won't wake back up. I have to unplug the computer from the wall socket in order to have the monitor and computer to work.
Sounds like the monitor may be going, but there are some checks you can do. Check the monitor cable. See if wiggling it will bring it out of standby. Could be the connector at the monitor, or the cable.
If there is another computer around, or another video port, try plugging the monitor into that for a while. It could be your video card is acting up.
My brother had a similar problem with his LG 15" lcd sometime ago. After a period of use the monitor would turn itself off for 2-3 minutes. He called the company and they fixed it. They replaced a part but I can't make out what it was. So it may be a good idea to call the service.
Does it ever go off whilst you are playing music or the like? The reason I ask is this. If it goes off and music continues to play then the monitor has an issue but if the sound stops or loops then your PC has an issue, by the sound of it it could be overheating (the PC assuming sound stops or loops.) If the PC is in fact crashing then just open up the case and power the PC up and make sure all the fans are turning. If its not freezing then take the screen in for repair or get a new one.
Simple thing that you may have overlooked -
Have you checked the power settings on the monitor? By default, Windows XP will shut it down after so long. Check the Power Options in the control panel.
Joshua: Ya, I have checked the settings about the Sleep and turn off. That is not the problem, I changed that to Never right when this first started happening.
So far nothing...it has not turned off once. I am pissed I really want to see if the music will keep playing!!!
I encountered a problem vaguely similar to this on 3 different PC's. The problem would usually result in the PC not booting up at all, you might have a different version of the problem.
On each of the 3 PC's, the tower and monitor were plugged in the same wall socket...dont ask me why it caused a problem cuz i have no idea but it did prevent them to boot properly.
The only way to make them boot again was to plug the PC alone in the wall socket. Monitor i plugged into another socket or power adapter strip.
Overheating PC would shut down or try to reboot but the monitor would still display a "no signal" message or somthin. At least on my computer it would.
If its your CPU overheating yes but if its the graphics card then the system just freezes and the monitor looses signal and I suspect his Graphics card fan has died (just a hunch).

Xaltar: Great Idea...I will have my music playing all the time now until something happens.
