Well, it seems that FEAR multiplayer has been re-named to "FEAR Combat" and is being released as a free download. I'm a fan of the game, but never have really played the multiplayer. I always thought that the singleplayer was the main selling point of the game anyways..

Is this really a smart move? I mean, personally I like to buy games for the fact that they have a multiplayer function. In fact, I don't think i've bought a game in the past couple years, besides oblivion, that didn't have multiplayer. Even though sales aren't top notch anymore, I still think its better to do something else besides make a major selling point of the game free for people to take advantage of.

For one it is a nice demo for people considering buying the SP part, and second to that it is obvious that games that are still played by many people even some time after the release usually sell for more (and more) than 'dead' games, where you can't use MP at all due to the lack of players.
Definitly a nice move by Monolith/Sierra... I wonder if you can also base mods on this MP only version
To bad my PC is too slow to run it nicely right now, but I can't convince myself to shell out loads of money for a new one
