hi people, i have a highpoly model exported from mudbox in 3ds max, i wanted to render him in order to beeing able to see details, and not having black shadows etc, just a simple material or something, i tried some materials and with specular tricks but no luck, any pointers on how to use hdr maps without raytracing on the model to achieve a model colored according to the hdr map or something like that ? thanks wink.gif

Doesnt putting hdr map into enviro slot with no lights in the scene work?

    edit:
Material editor > standard map, click on diffuse select bitmap, select the hdr map you want to use, under coordinates tab select environ, under mapping select what you want to use (i would use spherical, ofcourse if you have spherical hdr image loaded).
Rendering > Enviorment... click on the map box under background, select mtl editor and select your map.
    Render away.

But you propably knew that allready laugh.gif
