well, putting it bluntly, ive gone back on a dutch speaking binge (preparing to move back out there). and the easiest way to learn any language is to immerse yourself in it. is there any way to get 3dsmax to operate in a foreign language?

You need to install a translated version of Max. I think Max is published in English, French, German, and Chinese, but there might be others. Contact Autodesk to find out if Dutch is supported.

Might not, since you have a license already. Can't hurt to ask.

beware though. translated max can be ... well, hard to understand. i started out with the german translated version and it was a joke for someone who was already familiar with common 3d terminology. they even translated stuff like 'editable mesh' into something you'd barely recognize.
in some cases it felt like they had someone without much knowledge of the language translating straight by the book. nasty.

litteral translations are always amusing laugh.gif

take for example, when i was living in holland with Maartje, we were out with 2 friends. Priscilla called Justin her "poepedoosje" which is like, a sweet name thing you call someone in dutch. but i laughed pretty hard, and when they asked why, i was like "dude you just called him a little shit box". laugh.gif

well I would not recommend a foreign software kit, mostly has if you want to learn a language, you normally would not need highly technical vocabulary. And as thomasp said, the translation of such terminology can be off. I for one am happy I always had English max, but at university they have the German one, and it's awful to work with (even more as you dont have rights to customize your UI). A friend worked in Italy for longer fully with Italian software, but he doesnt speak Italian either. It's not like you would start a conversation with "Convolution Filter" wink.gif

back to the topic, I think it is only possible to change languages when you update.
