Pricing for Silo 2.0 after the beta period will be $59US for upgrades from version 1.x and $159US for initial purchases. Anyone who purchases Silo 1.42 at its current price of $109 before the release of 2.0, including those who purchased on or after July 1st 2005, will receive a free upgrade to 2.0 as well as access to the beta. All future 2.x upgrades will be free to registered 2.0 users.

very nice, i have always been a big fan of silo. i still dont see why modo cost 900 bucks when from my personal experience silo doed everything i would ever want to do in modo and silo has always been much more snappy on my machine. cant wait for the beta!

Indeed. And if you buy 1.4 now for $109/£60/€85 then 2.0 will be a free upgrade in a few weeks time.

Hmmm... why did this have to happen now? It looks so awesome, and the interface in the teh trial I tried was so nice and smooth... for only 100 bucks... erg!

I so wish I had the money. Silo is deffinatly looking nice.

Why is it so cheap compared to Max and Maya though? What is it missing that makes it's price drop so much?

I have never used it but just from looking at the website I think SILO is just a modeling tool . Max and Maya are full feature development programs . They have Animation,Rigging, Particle & Cloth FX, Various rendering options..etc etc

Tulkamir: At the moment it's pretty much just a modelling/sculpting tool. It doesn't support animation (yet!) and doesn't have any sort of renderer. They're only just adding UV-mapping in version 2.0, too.

Exciting stuff. Unfortunately I bought Silo 1.42 before July 2005 so looks like I'll need to take the $59 upgrade option. Still worth it. Great that they finally sorted out the interface.

Edit: The version I bought was actually Silo 1.3.
