"Romero Reveals Upstart
Nearly a year after parting ways with Midway's San Diego studio and its ill-fated Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows project, John Romero has revealed via a blog post the first details on his newly founded studio, tentatively titled Slipgate Ironworks, and project, tentatively titled Super Secret Mystery Project.
The Redwood City studio is looking to hire designers, artists, and programmers for a yet-to-be-revealed massively multiplayer title, or in Romero's own words, is seeking "supercore" developers hard enough to "survive [their] hyperdimensional environment" and join their "superstar" team. hmmm...
that actually sounds like a plan he could use.
UBERCORE
and he will do it all while sat naked, except for his underpants!
fun aside, I hope he does better this time!
in otherwords they are going to try and make a game like wow, that took over 7 years in less than 5 monthes. good luck with that. i wonder what other new terms we see in the future that really translate into "crunch your ass off". actually i think crunch your ass off is a little less abrasive than using the word "survive"..
there have been rumors floating around the office for monthes now about JR and his new mmo, i guess its offical now.

Hey now you are stretching it, Daikatana was supposed be done in 7 months, not 5 and it only took like 4 years!
"John Romero is looking for people to be made his bitches. Only artists, programmers and designers willing to suck it down need apply"
.... can you operate a mouse whith an orange ball in your mouth
I wonder if Romero ever has dreams about being the Doom 2 boss, shooting out fiery Daikatana death!!!
yeah, exactly when are we going to stop paying attention to him like we ought?

When he stops dropping awesome phrases like "supercore" and "hyperdimensional environment"?

You WILL be Romero's biatch! It WILL happen!
And how did you become supercore, do you have to take some pills for like three years to achive this state of mind or are you born with it?
One more thing is supercore more like real bunny or like energizer bunny?
Seriously though, who else is he going to attract other than egomaniacs when he starts asking for "supercore" talent? I think it would be great for Romero to develope a really new and revolutionary MMORPG, and make us all eat crow, but I just don't think that is going to happen.
Ultimately I think Romero's life passion is to look cool and live the 'bling-bling' 'look at me' lifestyle. I personally find that repulsive. If you want to make games, then you would be well served to have your passion in life be making games.
I don't know the guy. Maybe I'm wrong. But if I am wrong, it isn't because Romero has made any real effort to get the truth out. If he wants respect, it is easy to get in this industry. Get some skills! Show some art or write some code and blow our minds! It's that simple.
I think the petty malice displayed in this thread speaks more more of you lot than it does of him.

we are talking about the same guy that bought a snazzy new office _last time_ he started up a company, only to find that no one could do any work because the ceiling was entirely made of glass.
tsk tsk, browsing the internet on your bithday!
