wow, that's terrible. when something like this happens, it's quite a time consuming process to fix everything to be non-hackable. some kid could grab the source and know what registers to inject to do pretty much anything.

Two reasons. First, the hacker wouldn't want it for any personal reasons, second, no one else would want to buy it (Or waste the bandwidth to download it). :P
That is pretty shitty though. Hopefully they catch the asshole. :P I'd like to see some serious punishments start getting doled out for that kind of thing.

Yes but he could do it only on the client and the server shouldn't trust that anyway. All he could do would be to write an aimbot.
Besides, memory addresses change so easily anything written for this code would probably not work with the final game anyway.
