photoshop brushes

I used Photoshop 5.0 for a long time (until my roomate lost the disc), I've been using 7.0 for the last few years but I haven't been as productive. It's the brushes, there's something I don't like about 'em.

What are some good basic brush setups you guys use and how do you use them?

I long stopped keeping track of (and getting too used to) the never ending changes/new features to every new version of <insert your favorite software>. I just use whatever is there - which is nearly always good enough anyway. Getting too used to doing things certain way, will only make changing habits harder.

I played around photoshop for several years but i find it hard to navigate in their brush interface. I came up with the final conclusion that the only commands that really need are:

1) Edit --> Define Brush Preset (once in there press ctrl-mouse botton to move them around, shift to select, and alt key to delete)

2) Rename your favorite one's with something you would easily remember.

3) F5 to select and play around with the setting, the alt - mouse select key is also working under this tab. Use it to delete adobe's garbage.

I delete all my brushes and load my two and only custom brushes.
