Ok I made a tepee with wings 3d First thing I have every made with it... It was quite by accident really but none the less I have a tepee... I was wondering how I would go about putting a background on it would I need to use something diffrent? or can I just use the good old reliable paint and edit it in? And if i can how do I copy it? Thanks

You're asking very complex questions. Try googling "wings3d tutorials" to get started.

sounds to me like you don't even have the most basic concept of anything 3d related. Read the manual. Wings 3d is only a modeler. You will need an application that can handle UV mapping and textures.

Painting a texture in mspaint would be like throwing yourself off a tall building and catching an eyelid on a nail.

And I hope you were being sarcastic Sledgy.

No not being sarcastic, just saying he's trying to bite off more than he can chew right away. I guess I could have better said "You're asking questions that have very complex answers" Oh well - braindead Thursday smile.gif

Wings 3D -CAN- handle UV mapping and textures (it actually has one of the better UV mappers out there). I haven't used it in a couple years, but there should be plenty enough documentation and tutorials about this on the Wings3D site and forums.

First off, ask yourself, "what are you doing, and what do you want from it?" It seems you're only just getting started with modeling, so no need in worrying about backgrounds for illustrations and renders.

Try modeling with more than just primitives. Edit points and edges. Form complex objects, and smooth subdivisions.

Wings3d has an Image operator which will place an image into the scene.

For painting, do not use Paint. Try GIMP. It's free, and very close, if not better, than photoshop. Tho people will criticize all the ways in which it is not photoshop. There are other alternatives as well that are free or low cost. For beginners, photoshop is a train wreck.

When you want to UV map your models for texturing, there is a video tutorial on my website. I tried to cover the topic the best I could.

You'll have to look beyond Wings for rendering.

    Have fun.
