yo, its been a while since i started a new thread
started this thing in zbrush a few days ago because thought itd be a good idea to do some more normal map work.
max render
the mask in zbrush
shot of the torso in zbrush
here's the start of the low poly in max. im still working on the high poly in Z, but i felt the torso was pretty safe.
being able to create polygons by vertex would be handy
im planning on giving it long hair as well, sort of Conan the Barbarian-like
im still thinking about the mask, i wanted it to look like its being conrolled by voodoo/witchcraft/something else, so i didnt put eye holes in it. hopefully a creepy looking mask with glowing eyes and an interesting tattoo design will give that feeling

The only problem I see is that his toes look like they're modeled out of a lump of clay. to me. Suppose that's not a big deal though cause most people don't even look there.
crit - the clavicle area, above his pecs and below his neck, has a weird bulge. I assume that's just a big muscle that is normally far less pronounced on average build characters, but it still looks a little out of place. Maybe try adding a little more clavicle definition? Maybe just the center divet where the clavicles meet below the neck?
I agree with Ferg, the whole area just below the clavicle and the pecs looks really strange. Also, along with the toe comments (they look like relief as opposed to fully 3D) the ankle area looks a bit off somehow. Good stuff!
the legs and feet are still a WIP
fritz, the body is subd level 6, and my computer is more than a year old. maybe you have to adjust the memory settings in the preferences menu?
how bout those seams, eh?
ill see what it looks like in xnormal
You might wanna see about smoothing the hands out a bit in the highpoly, they're looking kinda randomly lumpy now, they don't have the smooth definition that the rest of your anatomy shows.
Keep it up
just been farking around with the diffuse and specular, seeing if i can get a nice effect with the forearms first
also still working on the high poly in Z, ill fix up those hands and beef up the thighs a little like you guys suggested
compliments and critique keep me going
havent been working on this dude very much, but i have updated the diffuse and spec map.
glowing feet was a happy accident the texture looks like ass
im not convinced by his belt or mask yet, and i still have to address the issue of the hands and the thighs.
probably wont work on it again till after i finish a character for the challenge on sumea.com.au
Great work!
ill try out TorQue's idea when i start working on this again
Johny: thank you, the last pic is just regular ol' max
