but in all seriousness, it's amazing that a female is at that level. I feel more worthless now because of it. I wonder if she can rig and aminate also...
I've noticed often times when I come across women that are into game art (or art in general) so often they tend to lean HEAVILY on doing pieces showcasing the female form. Does anyone know why this is?
I've seen 3 of those meshes up close and personal. They're very nice. The Rayne head is my favorite. Though, I'm not sure if she did the Rayne body or not, because the Rayne and Aeon bodies are totally different in terms of modeling style. The Aeon body was better IMO.
Other than that, the HellGate London chick is totally Aeon.
lead character artist on Oblivion was a girl but um, well, I'll be nice about it. I believe her direct quote from the making of video was 'humans are not my forte'.
And er, Rockstar, but an ugly Asian chick just wouldn't stand a chance of being a good modeler right?
Her work is awesome! Yay for dispelling the myth that hot chicks can't be g33ks =D

Because we are more experienced with the female form I have noticed that most of you guys tend to make male models and that the majority of the female models tend to be rather... disproportionate.

ALERT ALERT ALERT! Feminists are infiltrating the industry in order to prevent our female characters from having double D breasts!
Apparently Sze is very popular at Blur. When I went to the Face|Robot launch a few months ago, they made mention that she modeled the Kitty Hunting character used in the demonstrations and people were cheering her on for minutes.

[/ QUOTE ] Not even remotely!! I was attempting to refer to the lack of anatomical correctness in the females body structure and not the proportions themselves, but I chose the wrong word.
... but since you've brought it up... flat-chested character models would be really boring to watch ingame as I think most people play to escape the doldrums of reality, not have it thrown in their face. Imo all game characters should have overexaggerated features as it ads to the fantasy aspect of the game.
I certainly wouldn't complain if there was a little more variety when it came to female body types though... sexy doesnt always have to be slim with chiselled abs & huge silicone inspired 'assets' For example, my personal preference runs more along the lines of Frazetta as opposed to Boris.

because nice round breasts are a bit more pleasing to model and look at than a lumpy cylinder?
and that's some cool work in the article no matter who made it!

I don't know. Looking at all the female reference on 3d.sk suggests that the female body comes in all kinds of shapes and sizes (Hourglass figure, straight figure etc). Perhaps people are always expecting female models to follow an ideal set of proportions. Certainly what was en vogue in Andrew Loomis' time is not the same as today.
depends. try the carnival in cologne. or maybe rio de janeiro - because of the better weather, there you can have your anatomy lesson right in the middle of the street, i guess.
on a sidenote: a two pages thread that revolves around the existence of a female modeler shows like nothing else that this industry seriously has to grow up.
Mmmm Frazetta. I agree with you there, however to quote an old song, "...in the valley of shadowless death, they pray for thunderclouds and rain - but to the multitude who stand in the rain, heaven is where the sun shines."
Full-figured is the norm most places. In these days of high-fat/protein diets it takes little effort and time to be full-figured, but it takes serious dedication and and whole lot of leisure time to get to looking like Boris. Prior to the early 20th century it was considered hella sexy to be just as round as you could get simply for the fact that it was uncommon and only people with extra money/leisure time could afford it. The sexiest to me is a combo, "baby got back" meets "onyourleft!"

But what the fuck is with everyone and that avatar of the black guy talking? It's making my eyes hurt!

Yes but asking random women on the street to strip naked looks rather weird.

Hmmm... that could explain all the funny looks.
And possibly all the people screaming "pervert" around me all the time... though I don't know that the two coule be related...
