That's not a hack, General Corum reached their server and blew it to pieces, now they're trying to cover up by pretending they just got hacked and their admin WASN'T decapitated.
I believe this was a case of somebody exploiting commonly known vulnerabilities in the vBulletin system. You've got to keep up with patches and versions, especially in forums. With so much user interactivity, there are a lot more opprotunities for problems.
somewhere, a sharp dressed computer genius is drinking a dry martini and surrounded by beautiful half naked woman...or a teenager with acne is at his mom's house whacking off for successfully corrupting a forum for artists. that'll teach us a lesson!
looks like it's being fixed. hope it's back up soon. when's the next challenge?
fear not, people. remember that board downtime just a few days back? that was an upgrade and patch maneuver expressly to prevent that sort of thing from happening. we are all very, very, very lucky to have an admin behind the scenes that is dedicated to security and stability issues, to say nothing of improved useability. so thanks, Vito.
Fred, you and any of your crew are of course welcome to slum it over here at polycount in the meantime
I remember being told a story (folklore) of a hacker that got caught in india after he had hacked into a lot of local 'establishments' causing a lot of mayhem.
Rather than send the guy to jail, the police chopped off his (dominant) right hand!.
looks like cgtalks gone down, dont know why, maybe theyre taking us out one at a time, just like in the movies, dont split up whatever you do. are you wearing red eww bad sign
As you may have read in the very first post of this thread, CGChat got hacked about a week a go or so. I am sure they are doing what they can to get the site back on online.

He's only laughing until he realizes that hacking is a felony punishable by up to 15 years of jailtime.
I didn't want to mention it, but I'm fairly certain it was a polycount member. After winning the Dominance War, someone here felt that since CGChat was defeated and therefore meant to be put to death. Am I right? Which one of you was it?!?
Well, not me, no matter what the others claim. I know people who could do that but CG Chat isn't even worth the attention for hacking it.
I think it's a bunch of script kiddies that are proud that they managed to read a tutorial on how to exploit some board system weakness and now are going through Google's lists and trying it on every page they find. You know, because they think that makes them unresistable for women.

it was vB.
"pixellation" was a forum with thousands of members that once dissapeared overnight, dispersing the whole community
__hides under bed in fear__
Granted i'm giving them credit that they make daily backups and keep them onsite.
