well, such with my fanaticism toward anything in armour, ive modeled an elf paladin, with an emo haircut...
the only real question i would have for you guys (other than to ask to be criticised gently). is how would you go about normalmapping him?
im not too great with high poly stuff, and i want to get a coat of arms normalmapped onto his chest plate, along with a gold trim around the rest of the armour, but i honestly dont know where to start

about your question: if you only want to add some details onto the armor, i would choose a bumpmap, to define the details. But if you want to go with a normalmap you could use NVidias Normalmap-Plugin for Photoshop, to make a normalmap out of the bumpmap
i dont understand about using dynamic shapes for armour... plate armour is normally pretty sturdy hehe, unless i misunderstand you.
for once the texture is going roughly the way and style im aiming for o_o
