if your planning to normalmap a character for game purposes. is it possible to mirror any of the uvw's? or should i make sure that both sides are mapped out?
well, i was planning on seeing how good this character comes out in the source engine, before running round like a headless muppet trying to find a team who wants to make a swords % sorcery modification.
yah it all depends on the engine that's running it. there might be a shader fix depending on what happens tho.. i know i remember hearing something about a hyper shade solution for the problem in maya.
Pretty sure that Source can handle mirrored normals. I checked one of the vtf files of one of the big insect thingies in Half Life 2 and its normal map is mirrored right down the middle.
