At work today, I was stuck with a situation in which I had to rename the extension of 250 files from .movie to .tga
I stumbled across this app today (freeware) that saved me 30+min of retyping file extensions.

Aside from renaming extensions, this app has about 10 other renaming options. It's extremely robust, and beyond useful.

or just write in notepad:

rename *.movie *.tga

and save as rename.bat and run in the folder full of .movie files

or go in command prompt and type that

It's not just for extensions!

It has a whole slew of options. You can add or remove a single character (or more), add characters in - LOTS of stuff

I've always used Oscar's Renamer. Very very handy little program as it lets you record macros.
