i just quickly glanced over it but it looks like a magnetic system to me. you can get body systems like that for well under 10k, that's far off from an optical vicon or similar and is less suited for game-type action movements.

these magnetic ones are being used for live performances and such, typically bundled with an optical facial capture system and some gloves to record finger motion.

still nice to have one of those in the closet

Sure it is their 'cheap' product line, but when was the last time you had a competition with a approx 10k first prize?

as long as you guys are aware that the suit that is up as a prize is an upper body suit for capturing torso, arm and shoulder movements, there you go.

if i was participating in this contest (and hoping to win the thing) i'd immediately start putting money aside to purchase the lower body capture parts as well because in the current state, well... maybe good for capturing those 1stperson weapon anims

a complete suit at home could be a great thing, i agree.
