haha thanks Rick, I've almost reached the right side of my desktop with icons and files and crap I've downloaded. Yeah Cheapy, I used to have a 'Stuff' folder that I would dump all my junk into but then I would forget about it and rarely explore through it. I read through this guy's blog and I think I will give it a shot, I like the idea of having the desktop shortcut on the task bar and no visible icons on my desktop. Thumbs Up! laugh.gif

I think the problem with a "Stuff" folder is that it is just that - a mix of "stuff".

Taking the time to even say "Work stuff", "Art stuff", "Personal stuff" will help you no end.

I've just ditched the home PC, moving totally to Mac. I cleared out all my old data, organised it, deleted it, stored it etc. THe amount of CRAP that I have been hoarding is mental.

All that trial software? Gone. MP3s? cleared out.

I even took the time to go through all my bookmarks and reorganise them. My new method for bookmarking is to use deli.icio.us - I add the bookmark to that, then if I continue to use it I'll add it to my Firefox bookmarks.

All work/play files are in work folders on other hard drives. All majorly used programs are shortcuts on ObjectDock. A few shortcuts to my major Maya, Photoshop and Zbrush folders on the desktop might be a good idea though...

Thanks, that was actually very helpful, my computer feels a hell of a lot more organized now. Now hopefully I can keep it this way for more than a week.

All I've got on the desktop is the Recycle Bin. I've thought about removing the icon, but it's just so handy. laugh.gif

I put my most used folders and apps in the Start Bar, like so...

I almost never see my desktop so the icons on here have little meaning to me. The stuff I need is thrown into several quickstart bars (you can have a folder full of links, right-click on your start bar, select symbol bars->new bar... and choose the folder) so I don't need to dig down to the desktop or open the cluttered Start Menu.
