Siggraph, Boston 2006?

So is anyone planning on going? I thought the current exhibitor list is fairly sad for games, EA being the only publisher/developer signed up so far. Other than E3 are there other Game Dev exhibitions that come strongly recommended for networking opportunities?

Boston was too far to make it this year.

If you want super amounts of networking, GDC would be it (over already). (Some parts of GDC are like exhibitions)

I'm thinking about going, because usually theses sorts of events don't come to the east coast. I still havn't decided.

I was going to volunteer and go but I kind of spaced on that.
Im probably still going though, if I can get my rents to cover the admission.

siggraph is good for a day....it's really not my thing for a full ticket... but being in boston means I could get away with only stopping in for a day to check it out...it's practically being held in my backyard!

zergxes - don't waste your time networking at siggraph if you're interested in games... there's only a handful of game companies there. Go for GDC or, better yet, the next Conceptart.org workshop. You'll walk away from a caworkshop with a hell of a lot more than 'network leads' too.

Yeah im at VCU. I actually just got the VP spot in my schools Sigraph club. Hopefully I can get some of you guys to come out my way and teach these Richmond kids a thing or two.

Odd though, how EA doesn't show up for GDC, but they will be at SIGGRAPH... -_-

That's because their sole use for events like these is for recruitment, and they have an odd fascination with recruiting people from film.
