3D Environment Artist
Blizzard Console is looking for an exceptionally skilled 3D Environment Artist. The ideal candidate has experience modeling and texturing assets for a diverse visual range of environments, especially science fiction and fantasy subject matter. A solid grasp of form, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets is essential. This person must be able to quickly learn and master new systems, including the willingness and passion for creating next-gen games for the consoles. The Environment Artist must have skill in modeling and texturing and be well-versed in related tools -- Maya, Photoshop, etc. The 3D Environment Artist must be able to create assets of the highest quality with or without concept drawings and strive to create compelling spaces for gameplay. The ideal candidate also works well in an environment with peers that are passionate about making great games. Requirements
Experience with Maya and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs).
Superior eye for light, shade, color and detail in creating texture maps.
An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling.
Self-driven, good communicator and a great team-player.
A passion for games.
Skill in one or more of the related creation tasks - illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, concept drawing
Able to work full-time in the Irvine area.
Plusses
2+ years experience modeling and texturing environments for computer/videogames.
Experience with a next gen engine and creating normal maps.
Have shipped AAA PC or console titles as an environment artist.
Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to figure drawing and environmental and/or architectural illustration.
A passion for developing online games.
Understanding of the visual style of Blizzard and a passion to push it to the next level.
