Wordpress - great for websites

I've trying to take out all the background work for my new website, and after trying various bits and pieces I've discovered Wordpress.

You will need php and a mysql database.

Basically, it's a blog system, but as well as creating news posts, you can create pages, and create groups of pages with a hierarchy.

There are several plugins that enable image galleries too.

www.rsart.co.uk has NO content yet, but everything there is wordpress powered at the minute - the news, the content pages and the links.

All you need to know is a little CSS, or even pick from 100s of existing templates.

I'm not on commision.

i've used wordpress before, the side-panel link is really neat for quick easy updating

though what drives me up the wall more than anything is it's admin panel and the over-use of trebuchet ms on the internet

WordPress is customizable as hell, even for people that know shit about PHP like myself. It is fairly easy to get rid of a certain font, CheapAlert.

Also I've never had any problems with the admin-panel...

Wordpress is really nice, but i prefer Serendipity has a better skinning engine and a big collection auf plugins and customations that makes live easier. Ohh and before i forget an better spamprotection built in.

I actually got wordpress a few days ago. i just wanted a blog that will serve as a production diary for 2 big projects i am ramping up for. i decided i dont really need a portfolio site anymore because for the most part i find a zip works fine for applying to job.
