we're thinking of using this for our assets for easily transferrable data etc. I don't know anything about it, does anyone have any experience with collada and is it any good? and are there any problems you've encountered..
Not ready for prime time. Check their forum for an idea of the issues. IIRC all the game-type data would have to be in custom blocks, so it then becomes an engine-specific format, just without the bells and whistles you get from rolling your own. Instead you're stuck with their hierarchy/format rules, and the verbosity of an ASCII format. At least that's what I got out of it.
