In bowling green, where I went to college, Tom worked at a local
animitronics company doing sculptures, I met him once by chance when i was a freshman. Every halloween he'd put one of a kind creations in a store window on mainstreet. Really lifelike stuff, but oozing with character and slightly skewed proportions, but highly realistic.
Check his site. I garentee someone would love to make his stuff in 3d. (of course get permission first)
Oh, there is a story someone told me of an old lady yelling at one of his sculptures at the Guggenheim because it wouldn't give her the time or directions or something.
Edit. Opps it wasnt him, another contemporary artist who makes life size dressed models.
Yeah I know Mueck's work. It is kind of like Duane Hanson's stuff but blown up. Hanson would have you walk into a room and see some tourists staring at piece when in reality those tourists were the piece. Hyper Realism is awsome http://www.kunsthal.nl/im/Duane_Hanson.jpg
[edit] haha leave it to me not to read the very second post.
yeah these kinds of guys are quite inspirational... if anything, for the attention to detail and absurd patience required to, say, individually thread human hair with needles on those people... unbelievable
more than anything i would definitely love to see mueck (and other's) work in person. i know the pictures don't do it any justice, and i'm tickled pink at how much he plays with scale.

I envy this guy to no end, yet admire him more.

I once met a guy who looked exactly like that... he had a deformed lower jaw that was caved in and an enlarged ear/forehead...it was pretty saddening
anyway, on a lighter note.....these are pretty amazing.
