I've searched all over, but i can't seem to find any software suitable for creating quake 2 models. Can anyone here give me a link to some good software?
That has alot of dead links and stuff unfortunately.
Some programs today can export MD2, Milkshape can (but milkshape sucks as everyone here knows) and Blender, though i've heard the script is crap though i have not tried it myself (Blender script authors often have a habit of not actually testing their own results to see if it works)
Most modeling software is not "user friendly" to beginners (I'm, of course, making an assumption about your familiarity with modeling programs here). If you can find a functioning version of whatever version of 3DS Max was used in 1996-1997, then you will have the tool that was used by id to make Q2 models. A better solution might be to use any current free, or budget-ware modeling program that can create a file that Milkshape can import ... and just use Milkshape as your exporter. Expect a trial and error process to get what you want.
Milkshape sucks, thats true, but is a good starting point. Its cheap, and gives you a good idea of thinking in 3d space. But, using somthing more powerful (blender, wings, 3dsmax, XSI) is good, and then just importing to milkshape and exporting to md2 should work.
Cheapy is right, the Blender MD2 exporter is basically a flaky mess. Your best bet is export it from there into md3 or lightwave object(if I recall) and import it into Milkshape. Milkshape will *only* import the first frame. So you then need to export it into md2 format and open it in either QME or Q2Modeler. Now in Blender, export each frame to .dxf, and in QME or Q2M, import those frames into your md2. It's painstaking...
That said, Blender is a great tool, and it would be nice if somebody fixed that script.
Hah, not 'thanks for the help in replying' or anything of that nature. Just 'oh, but this stuff doesn't magically do all the work for me?. You mean I have to actually learn shit?'.

On another thought, learn wings.
