Our client designs and develops high definition, realistic, interactive 3D graphical games that the military uses for training and learning. These products are also released to the mass market. Currently they are developing an MMO game and a military oriented first person shooter for PC and next generation consoles (XBox360 & PS3). This group has deep experience in modeling, simulation, visualization & entertainment combined.
As Art Director your responsible for the operations of the art department with duties including scheduling development, budgeting, and hiring. You will work closely with artists to create the assets necessary for scheduled milestones. In addition to managing this team, you're a hands-on, contributor. You are also largely responsible for directing the entire style of the art, determining the mood, look and feel for the projects. You will improve the process, quality, and productivity of Art development throughout the company. Additionally:
·Manage and mentor Artists.
·Produce high quality low-polygon artwork and high-resolution models as needed.
·Produce high quality textures.
·Review all Art Specs and art asset schedules for projects.
·Work with executive staff to determine allocations for new projects.
·Prioritize resources for art development.
·Establish and enforce processes for Art Department development.
·Set up and maintain guidelines and quality standards for the Art Department.
·Oversee the initial artistic development of projects, and proposals for future projects.
To qualify, you have prior experience leading a team creating game products. Extensive experience in modeling and texturing (animating is a plus). Mastery of Maya and contemporary 2D/3D texture creation tools (i.e. Photoshop, Deep Paint). Experience producing high quality low to high-polygon artwork and high quality textures. Experience in designing and creating UI elements is a plus. Good knowledge of Unreal 2 art production pipeline is a major plus, including:
·Good understanding of Unreal 2 animation and terrain systems
·Good knowledge of character animation and skinning for Unreal 2
·Good knowledge of UnrealEd
·Knowledge of UnrealScript is a plus
A portfolio or demo reel should demonstrate ability as a game artist.
This is a great job for all people who have some Unreal experience. This job is a 9-5 or 10-6 job working only Mon-Fri.
