Zdzislaw Beksinski, Polish artist

just read an interview in the megazine of mark harrison, the 2000ad artist. He was mentioning his influences and an unfamiliar name popped up, so I googled it- zdzislaw beksinski. I'm really loving this stuff, really dark giger feel to it, but definately not the same as giger.. anyway have a look, the site is also really nice:

Yeah, he did some very cool work. Unfortunately he was murdered last year.

Murdered!? geez. Well his stuff is genious. I love all the little things that keep popping up in his paintings. The color orange, tombstones, red birds with blue birds (or other animals, a round orangey object or place / portal in the distance.. I dont know what it all means to him, but i certainly felt something when looking at each piece. The music on his site is a pleasure to listen to while viewing. REally makes it feel like something.

yeah I read about his murder shortly after posting, really sucks

yeah, he was 75 I beleive, possibly older, and was stabbed several times in his home. He was a great artist, I really liked his paintings, usually he's compared to Giger, but I think Beksinski was much better.

I really love his website too.

Yeah I think Beksinski has a wider range in his work than Giger. More interesting use of color.

Another amazing (and sadly deceased) polish artist is Stanislav Szukalski I believe Danny Carey from Tool owns some of his work.
