Photoshop Problem

Hi All, This is only my second post here, but I do check the forums on a regular basis.

I cannot texture to save my life, but with the recent purchase of a Wacom Graphire 4 tablet (the bigger one) I hope to change that. I am currently on Pilots course for the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) but do go back home (yes, to my parents!) on some holidays. While at home, I enjoy the luxury of a dual screen system, however herin lies my problem. I opened up photoshop with my dual screen system and i like to put tools all over my two desktops. I am very careful, however, not to leave them there, because if I go back to a single screen system, they will be lost in an imaginary desktop. Well, guess what? I forgot to put the "add noise" window back onto my main desktop after using it and now, with only one screen, whenever i try to add noise, i cant!. ARGH! I even have to Alt-Ctrl-Delete to get out of photoshop. All i need to know is there a way to default all windows and tools to their original places. I have spent hours trying to fix it, hours that could be used learning how to texture. Any help here would be hot!

I think there is an option in photoshop 7 and higher to reset the palletes/tools? It's under Window > Workspace > Default Palette Locations.

Thanks Vig, but I tried this and no dice. I also digged around the registry (one of my more enjoyable pastimes) to see if there was a key for each of the tools. Needless to say i didnt find it.

Hrm, depending on what graphics card you have, there are options allowing you to "not open windows off screen".

I personally have an Nvidia card, and its in Desktop Management, under Windows, named "prevent windows from opening off screen".

When i check this on my computer, it snaps all windows back to on screen, even if i only have one monitor. if it doesn't snap it back then if photoshop allows it toggle it off then on again...

Sorry if this isn't much help, just my two cents.

Make sure you have Show Hidden Files and Folders turned on in the folders options. Go to documents and settings - whatever folder is your default user - Application Data - Adobe and delete the Photoshop folder there. When you reload Photoshop everything should be reset to the defaults. That's if you're using WinXP.

Don't worry about screwing up Photoshop by deleting that folder. All it saves is data like where all the palletes are on screen, what palletes are open, last used brush settings, etc. If PS doesn't find that folder when it's loading it just recreates it with the defaults.

I think scratch disks are kinda' like the Windows page file except they're solely for Adobe programs.

you can also do it this way most the time,, do the ad noise, and the window will pop up off screen,, now you can't do anything, when you try it goes "DONK" the no no noise,, when you have this hapening, press alt+space then a lil pop up will apear on the edge of the screen nearest where the missing window is located,, now use arrow key to move down to "move" and press enter, then without moving the mouse left ckick and hold the button down, and move the mouse to move the panel back to a visible screen, this is how i fix that problem almost every time it happens
