Hi, I have built a high poly mesh in XSI, and now a low poly. What I'd like to do is generate a displacement map for the low poly one, but have had no luck so far. I tried Ultimapper in XSI, but the depth map that produced was crap and useless. I tried Melody, but the program just crashes when I try to make that kind of map. Can't use Zbrush as it doesn't generate displacements from an arbitrary mesh.
Anyone have any suggestions? I have a video I downloaded from somewhere, where a guy runs a script and generates a displacement map in this way for a dinosaur model (the one on the cover of one of the XSI books). But I can't find this script anywhere.
At the moment I'm using a normal map, but being able to use a displacement map would be even nicer
