all obvious jokes aside, i think there's a fascinating collision between hip hop (very cool) culture and that of gaming (moderately to not very cool). obviously it'd be silly if all games started being baldly hip hop or "urban", (as they would if Mark Ecko got his way), but there's a lot there that's actually quite beneficial to the gaming community at large--if paragons of pop culture play their playstation 2, why oughtn't all the cool kids?
of course, it's not that we're really looking for greater market penetration in the 13-30 year old male category, that's our bread and butter. still interesting
