Can anyone suggest a tool for unlocking files which you've had open in Photoshop, then want to rename/delete etc? That 'Cannot delete file it is being used by another person/program' message is becoming a real pain. I tried a prog called unlocker - which is a partial solution in that it will rename/delete files when you re-boot. Any others?

Windows won't allow that. Photoshop says "I need exclusive write rights to that file" and Windows remembers that.

If photoshop is still open, there is no way around it. You have to close photoshop for it to release the lock.

Now if its happening even with photoshop closed, I'd use WhoLockMe, and kill the offending process.

Thanks guys. I'll give WhoLockMe a try.

EDIT: I gave in and killed explorer's process in the task manager, then started it again. Seems that's the quickest way.

I just open & close another file in another folder with photoshop, and it releases its hold on the 1st file. Give that a shot.
