Grow/Shrink selection not workin in maya?

My gro/shrink selection stopped workin in maya all of the sudden.. It doesnt matter if im in face, vert or edge mode or wether i try to access the tool with the shortcut keyes <> or form the edit polygons menu. Also when tryin to use it from the edit polygons menu nothin shows up in the script editor.. Its like i never pressed the button.

any ideas? oh and its maya 6.0

i remember this happened in maya 4 to me on a regular basis with the contiguous-edges stuff and the (MJ?) polytools grow/shrink scripts. the solution was to reset the custom polygon display properties, if i recall right.
or dang, something had to be resetted, can't really remember what it was exactly. CG talk search might still give a hint, because this was (nearly) a FAQ.

you could always install a scriptpack like open maya toolbox or that koshigaya stuff and use their grow/shrink if you can't find the solution.

ahaha memories! try this: edit polygons -> selection -> selection constraints -> close and reset

man this has really pissed me off before, always had to restart maya to get it back.. Ill try your solution thomasp next time, cheers!

not so glad to hear that maya still has that problem.personally i have never seen it happen since i stopped using version 4 though.
