I doubt it, but they can be laughed at by everyone for free.
I guess the animators were just watching lots and lots of LotR whenever they ran out of inspiration for how to set up a scene...
I seriously doubt it, maybe if it was a film but people dont buy games for the intro movie. I can just imagine the scene though- 'hey heres some shots from Lotr, we'd like an intro cinematic with these kind of shots and drama' intro guys- 'sure dude you want these shots- bingo, there you go'
edit:hey you stole my 'I doubt it' line! and you didn't even seriously

In my experience this'd be more like some idiotic direction from some producer or manager, with the reluctant artists themselves fully aware of the lameness of it all!
As obvious a rip-off as it is, you still have to give credit to the artists for producing some really beautiful work. The in-game screens look pretty good, too.

This isn't an homage, it's a cover. Only I don't think those go over as well in the movie and game industry as they do in the music biz.

[/ QUOTE ]Heh, that even beats First Encounter Assault Recon. But only by a teensy margin.
Yep, looks reasonably polished. Credibility is a high price to pay, though.
