That's derivative in every way that I can think of. Really scary how much lack of originality there is in that.
Even the crazy white poodle which shows for half a second is a complete rip from that short film of the Madagascar penguins that was shown before the Wallace and Gromit movie.
Visuals look like a cross between Ice Age and something more realistic, and none of the humour was fresh. If that's the best they can come up with for a trailer, I have a feeling the full length movie will be tired, rehashed, and boring very quickly.
Yeah I think this cropped up a while ago in a thread about the odd Hollywood phenomenon of 2 very seemingly similiar movies being made at similiar times. I dont think it looks very good.
Furthermore, I know it's Eddie Izzard n'all but why the fuck give a Koala bear an English accent? Is that because US audiences can't tell the difference?
lol, I think you guys may be a little too critical here
I agree, it wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't that awful. The problem I had were some of the jokes were predictable, but I can see kids laughing at them.
There should be a big fat disclaimer on posters, on the trailers and stuck to the back of every seat in every theater that shows this. It should read:
"ATTENTION! This movie is not suitable for anyone with a memory span longer than 6mo. Refunds will not be available and if you feel like you have seen this movie before, please leave now because you have..."
ah notman, I respect your standpoint and agree that it is aimed at kids but we're really letting them off the hook and underestimating what kids can understand if we always just say 'its for kids, sure its fine'. It relies on slapstick so heavily but doesn't manage anywhere near the quality of buster keaton, the three stooges, laurel and hardy etc which I loved as a kid, and were absolutely ingenious. The effort just isn't there or rather its totally misplaced
I agree. I also agree that it's an attempt to rip off Madagascar. It just seemed like everyone was being harsh on it While I think they could do better, I don't think it's THAT bad. I guess to each their own though
