hi guys,
I want to play around texturing in grey scale, my question is what domost of you people use to colour your grey scale textures in? i.e. do you use a plain colour and then use multiply or do you use variations to play with teh colours? for some reason my textures always look a little saturated...why is this?

I tend to paint everything in colour, but I'd tend to use an Overlay or a Color layer if I was greyscaling.
Sometimes a low opacity color burn to add some depth to the shadows (and prevent them from being washed out), and the occasional colorized Overlay, using the Gradient Map...
Then again, I AM a bit of an amateur... make that a LOT of an amateur...

I couldn't find a link to it, but HarlequiN had a nice grayscale tut image awhile back showing how he paints 'em (or how he used to). Here it is (let me know HarlequiN if you want me to take it off my site)...
