Okay I've been more of a lurker here. (Can we say away on some covert operation? It sounds so much cooler.)

So, here's my ideas and concepts I came up with for this little war:

trial1_copy.jpg
This is the first guy I came up with, stogie and all, but I figured he was too general of a general, and I was just tacking stuff on top of him.

gen1_copy.jpg
This guy was more alien looking, and the armor had some insignia ranking, but still wasn't was I was going for.

gent2_copy.jpg
This guy I thought has some potential, but as I looked around the contest here, there were some folks already doing this idea, plus then I figure a general leading some army into battle, I figure he should be mounted up...

...which led me in this direction.

After I whipped these guys up, I realized they would be cool, but as far as them posing for the final entry, they pretty much stay plopped down on all fours.. nothing too dynamic.

So I figure an armored up T-rex like mount would be more poseable.

mount4_copy.jpg
More polished idea here.

And this is the general I came up with. I tried to make him the opposite of the lizard, (Big arms, little legs) and enough muscle to pack some serious firepower.

(Here's said serious firepower)

Here it is all put together. Now to model this bad boy.

Excellant concepts, all of them. The final concept looks great, but the guy in the first concept had such a kick ass face it's a shame you're not going to use it. I think if you used that face he would look more general like, as the simplicity of the final head makes him look like a grunt. Just a minor gripe, the concept is awesome as it is!

lovely sketch development, i'm glad you've shared it with us. and consider yourself permanently off covert ops if it means you'll post more! smile.gif enjoyable to see you post comments on your thought process as you move through the drawings; i think the assessments are spot on. the final concept is good, but i agree with Jaco in that it's a shame that some of the more effective faces didn't make the final cut; the design as it looks now has an awfully small head that doesn't really focus your attention. but that's the kind of thing that gets sussed out when modeling, so hey, looking forward to more updates!

Really cool sketches, I agree with what Gauss said, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this ends up! Keep going! smile.gif

Sketches look great, any of them would be cool to see here, but I think I like the Last one the best.

For some reason I thought the ride would be a lot smaller than in the final sketch. not sure why.

I really like the proportions of the rider, though. Are the matching stripes tattooed on or are they distant relatives?

Wow very cool concepts. Looking forward to what happens with the model and materials.

It kind of reminds me of this figure on my dvd shelf (Iguantus and Tuskadon from The Dark Ages of Spawn)

    Here's a quick update:

The legs need some work offhand, and I need to hit the turbo button this week! I've done some more sketches for the face, as that's gonna change. (not too much mind you)

    Thanks for the comments guys.
