hey i think its about time i start a wip thread of my own cool.gif

ive been asked to make 4-5 generic humans with a tri count between 2k and 3k.

the normal maps will be switched around to give even more variation.

this is a slightly chubby male model with a bald head
GM2.jpg

this is an average sized male. it has baseball cap, bald head and head with hair variations
GM1.jpg

and this is the small female model
GF1.jpg

ill also be making an average sized female and probably a fat ass male model.

critique would be awesome smile.gif

i was also wondering if anyone with experience doing this kinda thing could give me a few tips, since this will be the first time ive done anything like this.

im guessing the hardest part for me will be modeling several different high poly heads that each fit the generic models

I'd say for 2/3k the poly distibution is kinda whack

    could you elaborate? smirk.gif

the highest poly model is the male with the hat, weighing in at 2130 triangles.
i was told they all have to have fully animatable faces for acting scenes, so the heads account for around 1/4 to 1/3 of the tris. is that too much?

The characters are quite boxy which, which I believe is what Hawken is alluding to. WIth the number of polys you've got to play with you should be able to get much more detail and general curvyness going on there.

looks good and i like your face loof(i think it's good for facial animation). however I think you have some odd and useless polygons, for example male's arm and belly part.
    good luck to your texture

Rethink how each vertex contributes to the outline of your object.

Yeah, even with speaking the heads seem a little dense. You'll find half of the expression in a conversation comes from the body, not the face. Check out how some of the crazy folks here spend their polys.
