Hi,
I am the founder of Games development Society at the University of Leeds.

I am presently working with a team of fellow graduates and professional game designers on developing a prototype space game. We work as an online team using an industry standard game engine and collaborative project management, information and communication tools. All of which will be provided to the successful candidate.

It is essential you have your own PC, internet access, software and hardware (scanners etc) necessary to produce creative and artistic work.

The project is centred on developing a prototype game for the Xbox 360. This project will offer the candidate the chance to prove their skills and create a working industry standard prototype game demo with the opportunity to work with industry professionals. If the prototype is successful a predetermined financial reward will be offered. The opportunities to enhance your knowledge, skills, portfolio and employment potential are considerable.

I am looking to recruit the following people:

Concept Artist - Technology
We are looking for a talented concept artist that specialises in industrial design, spaceships, and futuristic artwork. 3D modelling skills are beneficial but not required for this role. The candidate should a have a good understanding of technical drawing and draftsmanship skills to design and layout necessary plans, elevations and concept drawings for the game.

This role will involve designing and drawing concept art to standards, guidelines and styles defined in the game design document whilst also adding a significant amount to the project by way of your own creative input.

We are looking for someone with a great artistic style and eye for detail. The role will involve designing spaceships, space stations and all manner of paraphernalia necessary for a modern space based game. For reference see EVE Online, X2 The Threat, X3: Reunion. Preferable the candidate will have an extensive portfolio of such work or will have a genuine passion for this style of design work and Sci-Fi in general.

3D Model Artists
We are looking for talented 3D model artists that specialises in industrial design, spaceships, and futuristic artwork. The candidate should a have a good understanding of 3D studio Max and/or Maya. The 3D model artist should be familiar with normal mapping and high/low polygon modelling techniques. Texturing and advanced rendering and lighting skills and techniques are desired but not absolutely essential.

This role will involve modelling advanced high and low normal mapped models to standards, guidelines and styles defined in the game design document, concept art and storyboards whilst also adding a significant amount to the project by way of your own creative input.
