Hey, look, it's yet another ex-lurker!

I mean uh, hi.

Anyway, as I'm entirely too wasted to continue work tonight, I give you my shitty concept for Fleet-General Green Eyes, leader of the Val Mercenaries.

... or... somethin. It's really not done though; still just a blue outline really. I'll have write-up for her and her kin up taemorrow, probably.

edit: Removed non-working pictoor. Finally.

    I feel loved.

    Regardless, I'm pushing ahead. Utilizing my meager WACOM skills, I've advanced the concept somewhat; it is still quite... mediocre.

    Blah. Ah well, this is mostly to develop me skills anyway. Commentses?

    All I see of the first pic is a large black box, bot much to comment on there. The second pic looks good, got a nice start going, just need to flesh it out more and push the details.

    Looks more like a barbarian warrior than a general but I guess that could be said about most entries since "general" seems to mean "high ranked warrior" instead of "dude in an office directing the army's actions" to most people...

    Alrighty, then, time for the promised update-thingy. KDR is, of course, correct; my last image did not particularly portray a commander type person, and certainly not a central leader for an entire tribe-fleet of Val.

    This, I think, works a tad better, with Green Eyes looking curiously at her recalcitrant (I think that's a word) personal Neural Command Interface.

    In othere words, it's time for another crappy concept piece.

    I'm working on it, but I at least need to make an effort towards my scholarly pursuits.

    Also, modeling people is much harder than modeling, say, ships. Which you're probably already aware of.

    Hrmmmm.... I'm not sure about this. I like the profile, but... the rest of the shape seems... wonky. And I think I paid way too much attention to the high-poly femme tutorial that was posted a while back.

    Meh. It's a larnin' excersize anyway.

    Ugh. I could really use some help.

    Did up a new concept, which captures the final feel I'm going for despite it's rough sucktastity, but I'll admit that I'm unsure how to proceed on the body, though I imagine I'll be killing a lot of the torso mounted polies. Gonna work on the head next.

    And I could really use advice. This concept, though clear in my mind, is proving to be a bitch to get down. Ugh. edit: Also, getting kinda discouraged. Despite my attempts to fight it down, my ego demands at least some sign of appeasement. Not that I'm gonna let a lack of replies stop me.

    Hey Dei, what exactly are you stuck on? The body seems to be off to a good start no? Are you surrounding yourself in tons of naked female ref? I assume you're just concentrating on building out her body in the final intended resolution, as opposed to worrying about a normal map?

    Er, well... mostly I think it's just my aesthetic sensibilities getting in the way. I dunno. It just doesn't look right to me. And aye, I don't have the skills or the ZBrush necessary for normal mapping. Meh, never mind, I'm just trying to gather my thoughts amidst the chaos of a hectic couple days.

    Lessee, English Comp I, check. Business Math, check. Drawing I, check. Dustwars mod, check. PC vs. CG comp, check. It's certainly keeping me busy. Thanks for the reply; you helped me gather my thoughts quite effectively, Daz.

    Ugh. I give up. I can't figure out what's wrong with this damn thing - it just looks wrong. And I don't know why, which is frustrating me to no end. Since I last posted I've made no practical progress - aimlessly shifting around vertices in the vain hope that suddenly everything will be right is unlikely to work. My normal method of overcoming progress blockage is checking out how others surmounted the issues I'm having, and/or sitting back and thinking on it. Neither of these are working, a factor made more frustrating by the fact that I'm convinced that it should look right, that everything that is needed to make it look right is there, but is simply doesn't.

    Mrrrrrggghhhhhhhh... insert much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

    There are many free sites you can goto to look at artistic nudes, as well as a cool $5 will get you a month at 3d.sk for some great photos you can directly rotoscope for 3d modeling. Keep on doing anatomy studies and you'll be busting out the beautiful women in no time!
