I think it's all in the execution of the final model - if it's a convincing general and treated realistically it might work, but right now it's a bit of a kamikaze shot. Maybe if the seal was integrated into the tank or altered into something less obviously a seal, a blubbery jabbaesque critter?.
It Should be 3d printed, painted gold and offered as a prize to the winner whatever happens.
Geez, I think everyone should have their work referred to as a joke to see if their self esteem holds up.
Thanks kite for the feedback. I do plan to integrate him to the tank itself. Right now, I'm thinking the tech/metal implants along the body, and possible a whole back/spine/brain hook-up. He's going to get pretty nasty by the end, so noone will have to worry about the cartoony thing.
Some other details I plan to do: spikey bumper sledge on the front for pushing corpses out of the way, and a bunch of antennae, wires with a banner/flag pole on the back with the existing antennae.
Dictator-For-Life Worm! This models toes the line a bit....but personally, I have no problem with it at all. Keep it up, and make sure those hos make it into the final version. Dictators-For-Life need to have hos hanging off of them. The concept looks like a joke. But the model so far looks absolutely incredible. More! I want to see more!
Did somebody say, bitch tits? I plan to finalize the high detail this week, and then move on to materials. I'm confident his final should be fairly realistic while holding strong to borderline insane. The female companions are almost complete.
Haha! Excellent!
I had only seen your collage design in one of your earlier post and had no clue that you were actually going to take it all the way. Rock on!
rooster: it's all "X" (cross) alpha planes, except along the edges which are single planes. I can get you a shot of the wires if you're interested, but it's really simple.
Jabba has just been one upped! SHWEET! My two cents might be making his one eye a bit more bulging out of its socket, I can see this guy barking orders like a maniac while shooting CGChatters out of the sky, great character!
You're insane, you know that right
Terrific stuff man. Such a great character.
If you have got time some wires of the low poly mesh would be good to study, if you dont mind.
stopping for the night at what I'm calling first pass materials for beast and tank. Much more to come, and in such a short time! Still playing it safe with the tri count, and I plan to add more to the profile once it's all together. http://chrisholden.net/gmurder6.jpg
Here's a preview of the bitches. This is jon's modeling. I touched up the materials a little, but it's all him. Shotgun is still early. It has been brought to our attention that she's similar to the q2 crackwhore. So we might get her converted over as a q4 player model after the comp.
looking great chris and jon.. i think at this stage in the game you should probably start presenting in the 400x800 beauty render format so that you can get that render down to looking the best it can for that aspect ratio. other than that, it's really looking ace
Oh man, when I see your changing thumbnail on the thumbs page, I have to laugh. This is a great entry man! Very original and very well done! Love the girls hehe
heh, I had my doubts about this entry when it first started but you've completely turned my head, it's turned into one of my favourites of the whole competition.
The texturing really transformed this work into something brilliant.
Born on the Guadalupe Island, a stray bomb destroyed his home and parents. As a pup with nothing left, he swam his way to the coasts of the Baja California. Here he found a heavily war torn city littered with weapons of war and the leftovers of the livelihoods of men. He took refuge in a still standing business block including a pawn shop, hip hop studio and a mechanic's shop. He spent the his adolescent years rebuilding leftover machines of war and watching hip hop videos while his rage for the vengeance of his family grew. With time, his devices allowed him to take over a few small surrounding cities. Surviving local governments only had one choice against his dominance. They pooled their funds to build an island paradise to be awarded as a prize in a greatest warrior competition knowing he would win. Unknown to him, this island was a prison of exile disguised as a lavish paradise. He spent years developing stronger tanks and training a fighting force of of warrior bitches and hoes. Then one day, his supply of hoes was cut off which his explosive temper interpreted as a call to war.
