Forget "missed the boat", I jumped off the friggin' pier with a dead weight tied to my ankles on the last challenge. It may not be the greatest thing coming outta PC on this challenge, but I *WILL* make an entry for this. Gotta represent, yo!
Seeing as gauss is still busy with other people's concepts, I've been mulling over the idea I initially had to try and flesh it out some more.
What I initially told gauss:

ok gaussy-pants, think i've got an idea.. think voldo (the nimble knife wielding nutcase from soul caliber) in a kind of General Greivous / Battle Droid (the kind that could kind of collapse into a smaller shape) form. The knives would rotate along the arm's axis (can be 'stored' in the arm's open framework when not being used). When you get a chance to mess around with this just rough it up first, I'd like to go over some stuff with yah (in #md possibly) as far as certain designs on the guy.

So, a little more that's come to mind... my general is essentially a one man army. Once a great swordsman and master at close / hand-to-hand combat, his lectures and training has saved many a soldier when the ammo runs out and only a sharp edge is left to protect them.
Through a cruel twist of fate, a rare disease left him a broken man, his body no longer responding to his mind and will. The military that he had served for so long approached him with an offer: With the new robotics and cybernetics available to them, they would take his mind and upload it to a machine. Not just any machine, though... what they presented brought what he could muster of a smile to his whithered face.
(bleh, sorry, typing this at 3 am, so my creative writing skills are starting to fail me.)
ok.. so.. yah...
The idea is that this blademaster is presented with a robot body similar to my quoted stuff.. essentially a bare frame with very little embelishments, other than some items /designs to signify who's ghost is in the shell (so to speak). However, this frame is very nimble and agile, and the arms are adorned with blades that rotate out and can spin around for attacks.
With a copy of his mind running the robot, it is sent in to enemy territories to cut a path of destruction. Best of all, when the robot becomes to damaged to go on, the experience and knowledged gained from the attack is beamed back to the mainframe hosting the blademasters presence. There his mind absorbs the new skills and practice he's gotten, and the military analyzes the intel he's gathered; back on the field the 'body' self-destructs, taking out whatever else it can. Another fresh robot is built, the more experienced mind of the blademaster is once again uploaded and sent off... accepting every mission as a suicide mission, but knowing full well he'll be back at it again good as new. All the while.. back at HQ, he's using his rank and skill to teach young soldiers how to stay alive when the ammo's gone.
something that occured to me (which may actually make it a tad easier for gauss to concept this guy) is how much like Spud, the Dispossasble Assassin my guy seems like.
