As for the detail some of it will be embossed in the metal and some will just be painted.
His weapon may end up being some large axe with designs on the handle and blade or some form of gun/melee combo, I havent decided yet, My poly count will also probably determine what I can do in the end.
yeah...highpoly...yeah pay no attention to his palms, they're noodly as all getup.
Stop posting such broke ass little images. Repoostttttt something thats notable, ho.
Redoing the bits below the arm has helped a lot. Now get stepping.
blocked out some shapes and such... the shoulderpads are proving a lot of frustration, i cant decide to have both or one or none, i probably wont come to a final conclusion til i see it in 3d :P

that color scheme and this dude's aromor reminds me so much of the emperor of mankind (wh40k)
You have GOT to make that armor ornate and wonderful!
The four things hanging from his skull are kinda like tails, they have bone but are covered by flesh, except for the very end, they'll probably just hang.
You'll notice in my max renders the details arent -quite- as sharp as the zbrush image because i'm using temp objects while i work in max and in the end i'll replace with the true high poly geometry.
too much typing! here's the images!
I use zbrush at work and my worst models in zbrush make the best normalmaps ...
And a closeup of some of the pattern work...
Lose the black background, tho. Dark grey at the least, so we can see the form of the model better.
one thing though, mop was kinda right when he was talking about using more color/tones. the specular helps a lot on the last shot but more color contrast may help to make details pop out better.
I really dig the face
Keep going Tinman!!

The first thing that jumps out at me is the repetitive feel of the texture. I know you probably wanted to go for a consistant style, but I think that this guy could benefit from a little more variation in color and patterning.
That said, very well done.
I've got some post crits... just things that I noticed that might have made it look even better:
- some sort of tread along the bottom of the boots. They're pretty smooth right now, if I were a soldier/general, I'd want boots with as much grip as possible so I'd have enough force to get my sword all the way up into the enemy's brain.
- A helmet. Even though this guy has a great face design, it's hard for me to imagine a warrior going into battle without a helmet of some kind. He doesn't have to be wearing it for all the shots, but having one around (on the ground, held in hand, or maybe just him wearing it in a few renders) can really bring a nice sense of completion to an armor design.
I could add more but they'd mostly be trivial poo... again this design came out beautifully. I havent read this thread all the way through so it's possible someone already suggested the things I did. Anyway, good work, I wouldn't mind fighting beside this guy.
edit: oh yeah, the turntable looks sweeeet.
