as I can't enter due to a broken machine, I emplore you all to use this fine flag, what I have cooked up for the challenge. It's simple, clear, and provides a nice contrast to finely detailed models.

I assume that you won't mind if we "embelish" that design for use on our models, right? I love the logo, but it might not jive quite right with they style I settle on. Naturally, I would keep the logo the same, but perhaps a little texturing, maybe put it stamped into the characters armor....perhaps even as part of the normal map?

That would be nice too. Do it up real pretty like and we can get them printed at a local poster shop. I've done similar on several occasions.

Or heck, it would make a nice banner for quakecon.

Heres a pair of alternate logos I drew up last night/early this morning. In case you feel more "Death to the false Forum!" rather than "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

An avatar sized version for use on CGCHAT if any of you wish to do so.

flaagan: Not yet. They've had 3-4 designs so far and none of them seem to be going for any one over the other. Honestly you see more perversions of our smiley in our avatars than anything original. XD

I for one am likeing the idea of multiple logos and variations anyway. They all scream in black and green, but the individual variations make for better subfaction insignia anyway. Just as the orks and forces of chaos have differing logos per faction, they are all still "evil" and share similar traits.

I don't know about this evil Smiley, it's kind of hard to take seriously. :-) . I'd think all you guys would have remembered history, or at least Laibach, or evile Corporate Logos. So in that Spirit I offer the following:

A gear surrounding the original 8 Point solid star.


Somewhat simplified, and will probably what I use for some insignia and signage, regardless.


An empty Gear Ring, if people want to do numbers, Unit Markings, or Faction insignia within.

bit late in the game to start wanting to change the logo now Scott, and "P" with cogs is somewhat more meaningless than a green smiley. Although I do agree it's not suitable on some designs, it's been given a foothold and open season for any modification one might choose. Somewhat gnarly alien beast things don't really suit a motif, and if it's that bloke from slain, the flag will be ripped to shreds and muddied beyond recognition anyway.

Not a single nation has used roman text in their flags, because it's not internationally recognised (I've met some Japanese who can't read roman letters). Least Intergalactically.

I'm very much interested in symbolical meanings and have devoted much of my time to designing such things. I feel the evil face is something that may seem childish at first but it also classifies the disregard to authority, it's a very chaotic symbol.

Hawken: Some flags contain arabian writing and from the simple fact that I can't read arabian I deduce that isn't internationally understood, either. Besides, this isn't a country flag, this is a war banner or army insignia. Those do contain letters (SQPR, U.S. Army or SS, for example)

I might be able to find a way to work this into my design, at least easier than I could work the smiley in. The gear could go around the 'porthole' on my design or possibly in some other places. Thats my only problem with greentooth, that I can't really fit him into my design without breaking the old elegance of him. we shall see though, maybe I can have the greentooth on his drones insted and thus use both.

Personally, I see the gear insignia as being orderly. Cogs in a machine. It works well for "massive imperial armies"... but to me, doesn't seem to fit polycount (3006 era or otherwise). Our armies are vast and varied, chaotic even, and the plot brief basically labels us a rejecting the CGchat empire.

I was under the impression that we're just evil. Because my general is a robot, and I would think technology would be its biggest priority next to crushing the cgchat dogs. I mean, I think it's pretty much a personal choice as to what you want your general's mindest to be. If you want to have an imperialistic future-nazi, or a space warlord who knows nothing of the concept of order. So pretty much just use whichever logo you'd like. Unless of course we can come up with a logo we can all agree on

we are evil. Not just rebels. We have endured the rise and fall of an empire, and believe full well that another isn't due any time soon. That paragraph says to me that we are for chaos, (in a way for freedom), and death to all those who would try otherwise.
