Thought of a concept last night, drew it up this morning, I went for more of a towering war machine general, who'd be with it's troops in the front line just as eager to do battle as them. If we come to an agreement on a symbol to use for Polycount, I'll be happy to put one on, if not oh well, I'll just think of a different seal for this thing.
fixed up the torso so it doesn't look like it's got massive boobs, and I also added another back protrusion, well another longer one, behind the cap there is a bunch of little ones running down it's back.

Thanks for the Avy compliment, I actually made that in my design class, because we had to make a flipbook with illustrator, The whole time whil working on it I wanted to use photoshop, it would have gone 10 times faster with photoshop.
ace work, neo god. i really likethe crest of the head, one of the most imposing looking bots i've seen designed for the contest. poise and bearing are the name of the game and this bot has got that going on. you'll have plenty of time to get this model into fighting shape, i want to see it shine!
I chopped some polys off, because I have 200 left for the neck and cape, so I'll be cutting some more off, probably the finger joints, because I can easily let the normal map take care of that. I may also rework the lower torso, it's not looking to sharp to me.
This one's looking pretty sweet. It seems the posture is a little off though. I feel like he's about to fall forward. I know you're going to pose him later so it might not be an issue.
I know this is kind of late, but wouldn't the heel pieces being so far back from the front foot piece hurt his mobility? Otherwise thats one pimping robot!
Truthfully I my knowledge of engineering is limited to simple machines, haha. The reason I put the heel so far back, was because it looked like it would balance it out. Would it hinder it's mobility? Maybe, haha, but since it's scifi I'm not going to let it get to me.
Well usually I build the low poly first, then I build the high poly off of the low poly model, then I tweak the low poly to match up the high poly, for the normal map.
with my character I built a low poly version first as well. It seemed to work out well because I can take a look at proportions and the overall feel first. It does also give you a frame of reference when building your high poly pieces as well.

haha, I was afraid someone was going to think that, no, it's supposed to be like a ribcage.
Though technically it's neither a him or her, because it's a robot.
I think it needs more spikeys coming out of its back. the one look lonely.
sidenote: nice friggan avatar.

I redid the lower torso too, because it looked awkward to me, and I didn't like it.
All I need to do now is shave off a couple polys (it's 24 over the limit, haha) and I can start unwrapping it.
Added a tinge more detail to it.
I also started on the high poly mesh last night
I put some more work into him last night.
keep it up!
I'm curious as to why you built your lowpoly mesh before the highpoly?
