This is the sweet spot for your low-poly models. Post 'em if you've got 'em!Low-poly hasn't really been a requirement in the games industry for a long while now. This thread is for low-poly art style appreciation, so please take note of these rough guidelines:
- Keep models under 1,000 triangles.
- Scenes are fine, if all models are low poly.
Some dedicated low-poly modelling tools now exist that make this art style a lot easier to produce;

I agree.
First, thanks for your reply.

the smoothing groups look like just one (or in other words +90° depending on which 3d app you know)- perhaps some edge sharpness with the smoothing groups might be good.
The texture is messy esspecially the wood parts looks like monochrome noise filterin PS
been modeling and animating today some gui objects for my online portfolio:
the models:
everything is kept extemely low and if possible in symetrical quads because the engine can skip triangles and does not necessarily need to triangulate.
the online link (now with magnifier) is:

just moving with your mouse,- thats all for now
i'll be watching this
Thanks for comments.
I will change the wood texture, really is very poor.
About the smooth groups, Wings3D have this problem, I will visit the Official Forum for search more tips about it.
the book cover and the sides of the book aren't aligned in google chrome
I'm not sure how it's supossed to look like, but in my browser it looks like this :

The looking glass animation is really annoying.
LEViATHAN: it does not really intigrate well yet,- maybe suggestions? - I need a animation that pops in and out if you hover over images or text elements to zoom in and out.
Well the animation itself is fine, just the fact that it's looping is annoying.
Also, there's some clipping with the next/prev things
In most cases clipping should then not be an issue
Looping is just for now,- will upload soon another demo where it will come and disaapear depending on hover elements
A few criticisms. The mouse look you're using needs to be toned down significantly. For a format like this, there isn't as much of a need for the user to rotate the book around. It's fine to keep it in there, as it helps to show off the 3D nature of the book, but I would dial back the amount that it rotates the book.
I believe someone else has already made this point, but the magnifiying glass should go away whenever it isn't over an image that can be zoomed in on. I'm thinking a scaling animation would be best to have it "pop" in and out as you mouse over the book. I don't know exactly how you would implement a feature like that. (since you are using a custom engine)
Are the page flip tabs supposed to be working right now? I can't seem to select them or turn the pages using them.
Are you aiming for a job as a Flash game artist or web artist with this portfolio? If so, then that's fine (providing the mouse control gets refined, as you seem to indicate it will). If you're going for any other sort of job though, I think this portfolio interface will make most people in the game industry close the page almost instantly, even if you have some nice artwork in there, it is just so painful to try and view it nicely in this fashion.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is a bad piece of work, in fact I think it's very impressive what you're doing with Flash and getting 3d content on the web in a novel way, and the pixel-art etc is cool, but using this thing as an actual portfolio interface seems like it'd be shooting yourself in the foot?
That's just my opinion anyway, hope you understand
The key is to have a fluent learnig curve so I will put a animation on the first page showing how to navigate - because there is just next or previous it should be fairly easy to navigate.
And I am applying for booth directions flash and game art but more (booth) as a general designer. HTML wont do it for me just like ugly fonts and bad 2d GUI art wont do it for me - because I can do better. I understand that extremely simple navigation is a must- but thats what my aim is + standing out of the masses with their plain html portfolios.
I also think that my loading times will be 2-4x times faster as a regular site with a html construct and a classic thumbnail -> image mechanic. Because personally thats what I hate most on portfolios horrible loading times and clich

Give me some feedback please.
goto views > other > flat
that way you wont see the shading and propably the look you want
753 tris. is abit to much for low poly,- I am sure that panda could be reduced to below 500 without loosing much shape
Here's a 360 view:
