This is the sweet spot for your low-poly models. Post 'em if you've got 'em!Low-poly hasn't really been a requirement in the games industry for a long while now. This thread is for low-poly art style appreciation, so please take note of these rough guidelines:
- Keep models under 1,000 triangles.
- Scenes are fine, if all models are low poly.
Some dedicated low-poly modelling tools now exist that make this art style a lot easier to produce;

Saw a concept and fell in love and everything else went on hold.
I miss the lowpoly mc loving, i have to get back to it and drop everything else so much more fun.

You can also put that animated version on sketchfab .
(somehow my reply button doesn't work any more )
character just for fun)

I triiied! 3ds max kept exporting the fbx with the cat bones as geometry no matter what I did. I'll fix it some day.
Working on this furry soldier.
This is my first model on sketchfab. It is supposed to be the main spaceship in my upcoming mobile/browser game.
What do you say?
Nothing much compared to the average quality around here (been reading most of this thread for the last few days) but at least it's a start I guess!
Thanks for the inspiration!
659 Tris / 432 Verts for the whole scene, 280 Tris / 172 Verts just the car with the 4 wheels.
Here a small turntable video of it.

Can you show the textures and wires for the scene please?
Here are the texture, please bear in mind that "ground", "sides" and "shadows/stuff" could have been done in a single texture.
I started with a different idea in mind, mainly having the ground/sides mapped 1:1 to make unique features without adding decals/planes and having more objects and a more detailed under car shadow (the big rectangle on the left of the shadows map) but I felt that they didn't fit with the rest of the style so I cut them out but left the UVS and maps like that as this was more of a test than anything else, whew excuses excuses!
As for the ramp I used it as a gradient map in Photoshop with just 10% opacity to give the final image a bit of color grading.
Here's the wireframe, as you can see I made the fender cutouts with a texture, I wanted to see if I could match the rest of the pixelated style instead of having them modeled as I would have on a more detailed car, I must say I'm pretty happy with the result.
Basically I wanted it to look as much as a 2D pixel car as possible.
Sorry I always write too much!
Texture progress #1:
(fixed derp.)
Here is my first attempt at hand painted textures. Definitely a fun challenge! Still a lot to learn though, so I would of course appreciate some critique.
344 tris.
highest lod 576 triangles, lowest lod 32 triangles. 512x256x24, which is rather high for this thread and it's only high to be consistent with the other high textures in the game. The texture also has special UV areas for the LOD version so not the most efficient thing.
*possibly posted before, but too forumnesiac to check.
Awesome! Can you show the wires?
Could've used 128x128 if i weren't so lazy and actually did the UV mapping manually this time.
Still, glad i finished it!
Edit: still messing with colors, wish blender had some kind of layers for painting.
Ok, time to move on.
This is my collaboration to the thread, a lowpoly Double Bass.

Cropped because it's about commissions. :shifty:
Awesome stuff, guys.
Really like your dude, 87roach.
(Really lovely, but there's a little window that pops up in the GIF turntable)

sure, tho it's pretty unoptimized - http://i.imgur.com/QFb1B6H.jpg
i think if the hammer wasn't merged and stray symmetry lines were gone it could probably get down to like 225-250
I usually just scroll past posts like this, but I have to ask... Why is it so difficult for some people to judge for themselves what counts as "low poly"...? All they need to do is look through literally one single page of this thread to realize that this doesn't really belong.
Really nice. It reminds me of the Emperor Kuzco from animated movie The Emperor's New Groove
I just gotta say... I have an insane amount of respect for you because of these low-poly guns. Getting something that low to bake properly is HARD, and your models look freakin' amazing. Great job! I'm loving these.
thanks they aren't for a particular project, i've just been experimenting with the spec and trying to see how fast i can make the process (no need for a real HP with such low res maps means it can be pretty quick). i'll probably make a thread for it sooner or later.
i did another series sorta like this a few years ago, i notice back then they were taking 3 hours, now it's down to a lunch break for the model and a lunch break for the texture. gonna try some stuff other than guns soon.
A somewhat lowpoly model of Ms Pauling from TF2 I made a month ago. There are a few things I want to fix, but I'll get back to it later.
Really loving the clean look you've achieved, it's about where I thought it would be tri-count wise, it could work well as an art style- might be worth exploring how far you can go with it i.e. buildings, characters etc
Oh wow that is such a fail from me.. haha. Thank you for pointing that out and I'm glad you like it.
Great work yourself too!

Made this little guy from Undertale earlier today.
Here's the texture!
And man, that is one awesome boxtroll! Spot on. Love it. Great work.
You others as well.
Got a sort of (silly/stupid) game concept in the works that's sort of an RPG Punch-Out type game with a Pok
holy shit, i just saw the youtube video for crocotile 3d and this looks amazing. reminds me of old DS games like the final fantasy remakes. I love the swamp environment too
[ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8Mxoofks_Y[/ame]
I wanna play whatever this is so bad... Any games out for PC that look like this? I dont have a DS any longer.
One of my goals is to make a game and create the environments for it using Crocotile 3d. I haven't played too many games lately, so I'm not sure what is available. I'd be interested in knowing too, because then I could show the developers this tool. I imagine more indiegames using this style.

a rpg would be very nice
im curious, would a orthographic camera work on this?
