This is the sweet spot for your low-poly models. Post 'em if you've got 'em!Low-poly hasn't really been a requirement in the games industry for a long while now. This thread is for low-poly art style appreciation, so please take note of these rough guidelines:
- Keep models under 1,000 triangles.
- Scenes are fine, if all models are low poly.
Some dedicated low-poly modelling tools now exist that make this art style a lot easier to produce;

Need Crits on how to improve my topology
No smoothing or textures added yet.
PS I am not that much of an experienced modeler, I am quite new and would like to get feedback on my low poly models.
I'm a fan of making curves all zigzaggy, makes them feel a bit more natural. Here's my take.
(I figured the hilt was still WIP?)
Lazdena - I think you could benefit a lot from strong painted shadows. Right now it feels rather flat.
f4cti0n - are you sure you want to use random noise on the desks/floor/etc? I think it doesn't work too well with the style.
edit: nm, saw on the sketchfab site its a 256 lovely.
finally set up sketchfab account. put up the swords from a while ago:

I have to say. the texturing skills are rad as hell!
Also I love the second one because the rope looks great on it!!
Akamo, I suggest you to add texturing things in the dark/grey/green part, to show that there is some energy in it, ie: glowing light, electric danger warning, etc. Otherwise you could rename it grenade :poly124:
Crits are very much appreciated!
anyone knows how sketchfab alpha channel works? does it read from targa or png?
Leyto: I did, yeah. Took a little futzing, but eventually got it! Never put them up on the workshop though. Mainly built them as a test to get weapons in, got it working, and used them to discover how the systems worked. I have a crafting mod locally for Torchlight 2, just never got around to building all the content for it.
I wanted to embed the sketchfab version here but the button doesn't seem to work. Here's the link:

Hainsaw: Love that guy! I like the rock-like shading on his features and the undertones and brush strokes look painterly. He reads to me as a bold little warrior. I wish we could see him in an animated idle mode! Do you plan to animate him at all?
Still need to create the unique feature going to do some concept work for it first.
Any feedback?
From a project earlier this year (discontinued)
Sketchfab does not like its normals faced towards each other with alphas. Double it up and face them away from each other and see if that works. It accepts both .png and .jpeg for alpha. No .tgahttps://sketchfab.com/faq
I really like your gif turntable. How did you do that? can After Effects render out Gifs? Pretty awesome.
recent versions of AE cannot - however if you dump a .mov or .avi, you can open that movie file directly in Photoshop and choose "Save for Web" to output an animated gif.
It creates a layer, and you should be able to add new layers on top of it for other things - text, borders, etc.
Thanks Moose. Sucks that AE got rid of rendering Gifs. I had a feeling it had the ability to at one point because I use to be able too all the time.
@Hainsaw you really captured the concepted painterly style. awesome!

@mariomanzanares: that's a pretty good idea, i did kinda like how it looks like it's in a little room though.
@Nina: I'm not a 3D animator... but i agree it would be awesome to see him move! this project for me was just more about learning to paint textures than creating something super game-ready. I didn't even rig him to get him in the pose i just moved the geometry.
Here's the link to the concept for it, which i again have to mention that i DIDNT do. Browning is so freaking good...http://cghub.com/images/view/130878/
i grabbed Blender back in the middle of August to learn modeling
here's my 1st model that i did the first week based on one of my own characters
[SKETCHFAB]3dfb3771f9444f6ea98e3b4768826e05[/SKETCHFAB]
the rigging didn't go too well so i decided to come back to it
here's the one i'm currently working on
sligtly over 1000 tris but it kinda fits sorta?
took me a minute to figure it out too, get the HTML link on your model's site, copy the url, which should be something like www.sketfab.com/show/[lots of letters], copy that, click the blue sketchfab icon in the post edit window (on right), paste the url, and hit the button.
took me a second to figure it out too. it was asking for the link and i put in the link sketchfab gave me instead of the one in the address bar, which was different.
840 triangles
Really nice work there, especially for only having used Blender for a month or so
One of these days I'll finish one of my many Blender WIPs and get my nerve up enough to post it on here
I know there are some texture problems....

And here, the interactive model (sorry, I can't use Verold or Sketchfab) p3d.in/cdQvL/shadeless+spin
Oh, I have a Deviant too: http://devilhaunt.deviantart.com/
Well, hope you enjoy
thanks.
i'm planning on pulling it way down to around 700tris for the next few models
the first model was just me trying to get the hang of the program quickly
this one i was more concerned with workflow, making interchangable clothes using layers, animation rigging, and the camera
the next one i do will definitely be more about poly economy
aside from that
i was surprised at how low the learning curve was. the biggest thing to tackle was the interface, but once you get into it its pretty great. and its free so i can use it at work.
a little scene I made from assets I've worked on
heres a treasure chest i made today
Store link here with some of the other stuff I've put up there.
Created my own lowpoly diorama of Dragon Age 2 after seeing awesome works in VG remix XD. the alpha doesn't work in one texture but works ok for other textures. C&C are very welcome.
