This is the sweet spot for your low-poly models. Post 'em if you've got 'em!Low-poly hasn't really been a requirement in the games industry for a long while now. This thread is for low-poly art style appreciation, so please take note of these rough guidelines:
- Keep models under 1,000 triangles.
- Scenes are fine, if all models are low poly.
Some dedicated low-poly modelling tools now exist that make this art style a lot easier to produce;

the torchlight graphics were cool, but now you find the style in every game.. which is kind of weird because so many people complain about too colorful graphics in rather dark themed games (slaying monsters, crawling dungeons etc.) - so i dont want to jump on that train too.
but nonetheless i will try out an alternative style and make a thread when i have something new to show. thanks for crits!
@delko: looks very nice.. can't wait to see some opponent cars on the track! oh and pls include loopings and jumps!
So joining the bike gang. Mines more of a bicycle though.
Based on this very pleased dude:
Currently at 1,110 triangles. Any tips to bring it down a bit?
Nice! Looks pretty good to me. Would love to see a full tile set of a town like this.
damn, I love this thread
a simple tombstone from me, 24 faces and 128x128 texture
You could easily cut down the texture size with that level of detail. Mirror all the edges that already have that 'worn-away' look to the sides, and then mirror both large sides. If anything, it could look more stylized at 64x64.
does anyone recognize this concept? I made the model with this shape in mind, I must have seen it somewhere, can't remember where, or was it just a dream?
ok, here's the 64x64 version
I tried that but it just ended up looking weird to me
playing around with some sort of level mockup. liked the reduced style of pineapple smash crew - so there are some similarities
Heres another short one, this time with music.

Fullscreen + 720p = much much
If you'll ever release it on any kind of platform, I'm going to download/buy it. I like it too much.
We're letting Tiger Electronics handle the release
I downloaded AoE Online after seeing your original post! Inspiring stuff!
Anyway this is what it looks like using that texture:
It's pretty coarse, but it probably does look better.
Looking good man. Is that using the Unity car tutorial? If so, very good work! First time I looked at that tutorial my head almost exploded
any suggestions for my pirate bike?
Based from this pixel/tile/concept page.

as everything else is pretty crisp n sharp - really nice work
Indeed i plan on doing a lot of them if its ok with the artist.
oh and heres an animated one.
A fresh pic taking into account kio's advice:
(cheers for the pointers kio, I think this looks much better).
this is my first post here and my first >1000 tris character optimised for mobile.
It's a whole different workflow from what I'm used to and it's quite challenging.
Here's the WIP, any crits and comments would be appreciated!
love that, maybe you could add some more darkness or depth to the holes between the girders on the bottom sides.
well i got something for a new project in my mind so i will probably leave it as it is.
@willy-wilson MADNESS! I don't believe it's 3d unless I see a turntable of it There are one or two frames where you can see the particle effect clip below the sewer shaft.
@carleel Looking good! You could've mirrored the other half of his face too, you know. Does he have proper joint loop at his elbows?
Thanks man, when I was planning the UVs I was thinking that I could introduce some asymmetry into the face for facial expressions. But in hindsight it would have been better to mirror it considering how low res the texture is.
And yea I hope I've set up proper joint geometry, first super low poly model, so I'm gonna try animating and hope for the best!

Congrats everyone and hope you enjoyed them!
9sk: thanks man! I will spill some paint over it first and then I'll see what I can do.
Been working slowly on some more sprites, I'm uploading an animated version now
It's animated in flash so is only a youtube link - flash sucks at gif export.

@JohnnySix Now that looks retro You've really captured the style there. That lower screenshot reminds me of The Dig for some reason.
What class might that be?
Lovely textures by the way.
