as it says in the title, I've got paint weights on, skinned mesh selected and everything is normal except I can't see the greyscale weight display. 'Color Feedback' is on, and the display sliders don't do anything..
Painting weights like this is impossible, anyone know where the problem is?

looks like it might be a vertex color display problem, I can't seem to get vertex colours showing.. still no idea how to fix it

    edit:
huh, if I work in a new file I can get it working, its something in the current file. I've tried exporting the model into a new scene though and still no joy

well, heres the answer for anyone else who finds this problem: It seems somehow associated with my model or skeleton or something, was something that prevented vert colours showing (delete history did not solve it). The only way I managed to get color feedback turned back on is by importing the model into a scene with something that has vert colours applied, which seems to snap it back into order. Crappy bug :/

If you think its vertex color related, try changing the polygon display properties.

    Display>>Custom Polygon Display (option box)

There will be a checkbox for Color in Shaded display. Try turning that on or off, and changing the color channel.
