i have tried exporting to different file types with no luck. is there a way to import a model i created in max to maya? if anyone knows how, could you please point me in the right direction.
I haven't checked if theres a version compiled for later max versions, but that might work anyway if you do have 7/8. set the vertex scale to 1 to keep scale

Have you tried .fbx format? It has a lot more options as compared to obj. afaik, obj does not take in material ID information from max. Groupings too do not work if im not wrong.
