It's not overkill at all for someone like me. I'm a huge flight-sim fanatic, and cranking up all the details at high resolution REALLY kills my current 'top of the line' PC.

- GeForce 6800GT (o/c to ULTRA specs)
- 2GB Corsair ULL DDRRAM
I play IL2 Sturmovik/Pacific Fighters, and Lock On, mainly.
As far as price goes, it might not be THAT bad. I'm guessing you can probably get a rig with this for anywhere between $2000-4000, depending on the CPU you choose.
I'll check when I get home - I can't remember off hand. I think it's a Asus a7nE deluxe, or something like that. I'll get the info for ya when I get home.

To clarify this, the Dell/Apple 30 inch monitor needs a "Dual Link" DVI port. This is still a single DVI port/cable, but with all the pins being used. Most DVI ports have nothing connected to 9 pins in the middle, as those pins aren't needed on any monitors 1920x1200 or lower.
Kinda confusing with the Dual part of the name, but it stays one cable/connector.
