Hey everyone.
I'm the project director and level designer for a mod for the Source engine being developed. The name is Dead Regiment and right now I'm looking to add a couple of modelers to the crew.
The mod is a quasi-realistic military game with a flair. Here's an excerpt from the design document:
"Art Direction
Organic:Psychoactive
Imagine a parallel universe to the one you live in now. Everything is exactly the same, but say that in 2004, there was an experimental form of warfare being developed and tested in real-life combat situations by the most elite and pioneering combat units in the world. This form of warfare, of all things, had a heavy impact on the psychological and analytical parts of the brain. Slight changes were made to each soldiers brain by ionic compounds contracted in the air through the residue (or radiation) of molecules released by explosions of a certain experimental ionic substance. The researchers found that if the area of attack was first bombarded with explosions of the given substance, the desired effect on the platoons brain would happen at a near 100% success rate. Soldiers sense of awareness, perception, and physical endurance were increased to alarmingly successful rates, the ethical conflicts presented by their objectives became almost nullified, and an almost complete negligence of pain resided with each soldier. The negative side-effects of the substance were minor yet substantial, consisting of mild open-eye and closed-eye visuals, rare and vague inner perception-of-conscience conflicts, and slight periodic dizziness. Animals and other life-forms exposed to the substance during bombings seemed to be evolving, or mutating, at amazingly fast rates.
The positive results of the substances usage in combat far outweighed the negative, and for 18 months it was used successfully against all opposing forces to the units commanders agendas, including top military units from the worlds leading military countries. Unclear whether they were being used by the good guys or the bad guys, this experimental military unit, as inevitably as it seemed, was thrown onto the brink of civil war. With their commanders at odds, and their ethical boundaries dwindling, isolated regiments began fighting each other. The fighting began in some of the most low-key and indiscoverable areas of the world. This is where our player is thrown in, as one of these elite soldiers fighting for a transparent cause, and under the influence of a certain something he doesnt even know about.
The levels will be like any normal outdoor environment, of course rich and dense (be it with rocks and sand, or fog and foliage), although there will be slightly different and maybe even weird differences in plant-life and other forms of life around them. The animals in the game will be some fictional creative subject-of-evolution, and the colors and skies will be slightly more vibrant and alive than reality. Player models should feel and look human/organic (not cyborgy or anything), yet still possess the super-military stealthy-seal-badass-look (and for the super-talented, a slight worn, mentally and physically battered look). Dark environments (this doesnt mean night, something like a swamp or jungle is good) with a good balance of parts that are well-lit and very atmospheric are the general direction for maps (but of course occasional deviation and creativity always preside)."
The game has only two player models, which are top of the list right now, but weapons and objects will be needed as well. All artists with good modeling skills and the ability to unwrap is what we're looking for. Rigging and skinning is a major plus, but we can get other people on board for that. The preferable program is XSI, as it is easiest to work with in source, but you may use just about any program you like.
If you are interested and feel you have the skills needed please send an e-mail to
notion@deadregiment.com and I'll set you up. Thanks for your interest!

Ah, the appeal of a team in it's heavy coding phase. I'll pay $200 a player model (skinned) if the talent is suffice.
